That's awesome.
Hoku and Brutus are fed together. She eats more quickly (being a 9 month old 80 lb Lab) than he does (being an 8 year old 10 lb Tabby), so she always finishes before he does. And then she just goes and lies down next to him and waits. She'll get slowly closer, but never goes up to lick the plate until he's eaten it all. Breakfast and dinner, this is how they eat.
And Brutus is clearly not remotely bothered, because he eats his whole plate, no hissing—and no nudging on Hoku's part. In their own way, they are a Force of Two.

Later this evening the cat jumped on the counter, stole a shrimp from a serving dish, and dropped it down to Hoku while he (the cat) ate one on the counter. I caught them at the last minute, as Hoku came running out, tail wagging.
Ok. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Cat: we are on to you.

Gee, so early and here I am saying Good Girl Hoku again this morning. That happens sometimes at my house, the waiting for the cat to finish, and I swear the cat slows down just to torment the dog.

Hoku is certainly a well-mannered pup for one so young!
