Sweet girl. How old is Dakota? I'd say so far it's positive and in a few weeks it'll probably be a big improvement.

    Welcome Home China! She's gorgeous.

You're going to discover just how wonderful a 9 year old is. Still plenty of pep but not so crazy. She may take a little longer to heal after spay, a few days rather than the next day sprong of a 2 year old but all of mine have done excellent.

Sounds like they are working out their spots in the house and things should settle down pretty quickly.

Thanks everyone. yesterday was good too, still a little growl here or there but they have gotten closer to each other for longer periods of time with out freaking out LOL
I am torn though-I dont want Dakota to think my love for her is less...am I crazy? I just love them both so much.

Also-these ppl I got her from--how could they not know somethings itching her terribly?? I mean come on! I put k9 advantix on her Sunday night after spotting a flea. yes just one but..anyway will that kill them all? I always use it on Dakota ( did for Montana too) but never saw fleas on them, it was mostly for ticks...anyway they did say the spots I saw on her head were from hotspots created after she got bitten by flies this summer. She wakes up in the middle of the night moaning , scratches herself a bit near her belly\chest...(fleas???I used advantix Sunday night!!)Also she itches herself and shakes her head & I cant tell if there's anything going in in her ears-there's no bad smell...
Also the lady said she had a puppy in July that died so they took her in for xrays to make sure there were no more and there we re not. I told her I have seen a bit of blood but she felt China wouldn't go into heat again until November. Could she just be wrong? She them emailed me saying to get the spay done ASAP in case there were any other issues. Great. Anyway I am going to and I am getting her ears checked too. After all is done she will get a nice bath. Dakota too.
Paws crossed there's no other issues with her girly parts..no fleas...lets hope for some peace & love huh?

last nights walk was fantastic too-they are integrating beautifully! And china-she sits there watching me brush my dd's hair! She has a lot of long hair so it takes a while and China watches
btw-someone asked-Dakota is 12!! watching both girls last night I am really happy they are both in good shape for their ages.

That sounds like me when my husband and I were trying to decide when to have a second child. I didn't want the first special little snowflake to think she was any less special or important. With that thinking, it's probably better that a sibling did come along. The things that cross your mind... Hopefully Dakota will be happy for the company.

I don't know enough about older intact females and how long blood would be seen after delivering a puppy. I'd be concerned about seeing blood 2+ months later though. Sounds like a trip to the vet should be done asap to get that checked out. Hope everything is OK there.

She was not bleeding still from the puppy in July, she has actually just come into heat again the night I brought her home. The breeder said she didn't expect that until November, but I'm wondering if they are anything like us with that in the sense that a new change in life could change her schedule. I've got calls in about the spaying and will get that done probably next week. In the meantime-the itching...I hope she hasn't got any ear infections

If she just came into heat, my understanding is that you have to wait a couple of months or so after the heat cycle is over before spaying. Give things time to calm down, I think there is a risk of them losing too much blood or having other complications if you spay right after/during a heat cycle.

oh I had no idea! thanks so much for that info. I'm confused though-the breeder said she didn't expect another heat cycle until November so that I should do the spay ASAP in case anything else may be going on....she also said the blood is bright red changing to pink to clear. I see borderline bright red /mostly rusty colored. No odor though.
