    After ACL surgery

After surgery on his ACL in his leg. He is still only eating one cup of food a day after surgery. He is drinking some water but not too much. He mostly just wants to lie down in his crate or on one of us and tired. This is not like him but he is tired. He almost slept the full night without crying (dad has been taking him to the living room and sleeping with him on the floor wrapped in blankets so the rest of us can sleep). Hunts really seems to like be wrapped like a baby and we try to rub his side (which usually gives us a smile). I have been napping with him on the floor (which he seems to like and Henry always joins us). We upgraded his pain pills once and that seems to make a difference. He has a pain patch also and it comes on Tuesday. We will see what they say on Tuesday. It is easier to carry him outside every time then I thought doing the sling method (put a blanket under his and lift his back legs up).

I would consult your vet if you are worried. My dog had TTA surgery September 1, and although she ate normally the next day, I was shocked she did not pee for nearly 24 hours and didn't poop until 36 hours later. I was kind of freaked out, but the vet assured me the effects anesthesia can have are varied and gave me signs to be concerned about.

Best of luck to your pup on his recovery. We are doing well here....up to two 10 minute walks a day, and she is allowed in the flat part of the yard off leash if I watch her.

Yeah Hunter didn't poop for a few days I called and asked about that. He is now peeing a little but not as much as normal because he is not eating or drinking as much. I hope your dog feels better too!

I wonder if his pain meds are decreasing his appetite. Antibiotics can also make your appetite poor if he's on any antibiotics. Since he's not drinking much, I'd probably try canned food for a bit or letting his dry food soak in some water before feeding him to try to increase the amount of water he's taking in. I don't know what kind of food he currently eats or the calorie content but when my dog needed to eat some canned food after mouth surgery, I tried to find some that one can had about the same calories as the amount he typically had at dinner time. Since Hunter is not active right now because of surgery, it might not hurt to feed him a bit fewer calories than his usual amount anyway since he isn't running around to burn them off like he was before.

Poor guy, they look so sad, don't they?
