I'm big on sit and wait for ok before eating and as excited and as big as Yukon is I'm really glad because he would be challenging otherwise. W/all the other dogs it was sort of a formality.
I switched to 2 meals a day when Yukon hit about 7 months. We had some changes in our schedule and I also cut back from 6 to 4 cups at that time. (2 cups per meal). |

3 times untill Milo is 6 months, then I'm planning on switching too twice and adult food.
I read multiple people here soak their dogs dry food in water, may I ask why? Last edited by Aydhayeth; 02-11-2010 at 07:39 AM. |

How old is your puppy? You may need to feed her more.

She's 16 weeks. I added an extra 1/4 cup at lunch. I'm going to add another 1/4 cup in the morning and 1/4 cup at dinner as well (over time). She is 27lbs and gaining well on this food.

Twice a day, once at 6:30am and try to at 6:30pm, but I usually get the stare down starting about 5:45pm and give in before 6:30pm. And we always do a sit/stay until released to eat. Although last night he tried to dive in a little early and I called him off and surprisingly he stopped eating and waited. My favorite part about meal time is I ask "are you ready to eat? Where's your bowl?" And he runs to his bowl, touches his snout to it and looks up at me. If I keep asking he eventually tries to pick it up.

There are really no set rules...it becomes what is most convenient for us owners.
At four months old Satch's breeder said go to 2 a day vs 3... But you could keep a dog on three a day for life as long as it works for you....Most dogs need a poop break after eating so it means another walk and cleanup.
