More RMB or more MM?

So I've bought books, read online, asked questions, etc and my brain is overflowing. But one thing I can't figure out is why some people feed a higher percentage of RMB and some feed a higher percentage of MM? Like some feed 70% RMB, and others feed 70% MM? I know it can all depend on your dogs poop, and if its white youre feeding too much calcium, and runny youre feeding too much MM or OM, but the difference in percentages between people is very large. So what's the right way?

It depends on the person feeding, and which way they believe/feel is the right way to feed. If you asked 100 different raw feeders, you would probably get close to 100 different answers. What is right for one is not right for another.

It also depends on which form of raw feeding you are trying to follow.

Probably also depends on how much MM is part of the RMB. Split Chicken is a lot different than a chicken back with all the meat pulled off.

Okay, but where did you get your 'formula' from? Any specific book or model you're trying to follow? Prey-style of feeding?

It's all in the wording...My guess is most raw feeders feed close to the same in RMB and MM..You pretty much have to as you would get a dog that either has runny poop, or a dog that has hard poop..If your dog has runny poop, people adjust with more RMB, if the dog has hard poops, people adjust with more MM..

If you go to Laurie's website that shanesmom follows also, she gives you a pretty good breakdown on how to feed. Keep in mind that you need a starting point, after that most raw feeders judge a lot on their dogs weight and poops and adjust to THEIR dogs needs..

The % of RMB is normally listed at HIGHER, than MM, when it comes to the books and websites..

Example...first day

1.0 lb of RMB..(chicken quarters)
15oz of MM..(pork)
5-10oz of OM...(beef liver)

Okay so the % is higher in the RMB above..HOWEVER keep in mind that the chicken quarters have a lot of meat on them..

Example second day...

1.0 of RMB...(Chicken backs)
15 oz of MM..(beef)
5-10% of OM..(pork liver)

Now note above that chicken backs have LESS meat on them...

So what does day 1 and 2 do? It balances off the RMB and the MM..As one day you are feeding a higher % of MM really due to the more meat on the chicken quarters, than you are the second day with a bit lower amount of MM..It is about BALANCE also..

Make sense?

yes, much more sense. I just didn't know if there was a particular reasoning that some people do more RMB and some people do more MM.

Mainly because it is what works for them and their dogs, and the model that they are feeding.

You are worrying about things that don't matter. What matters to you, is what works for your dog and the model that you are planning to use. Don't worry about how I feed, how kallie feeds, or how Asquared feeds. Unless you are going to copy exactly what one of us is doing and it works for your dog, it doesn't matter why someone feeds more of item A then the next person.
