Orijen.....Large Breed Puppy or the Regular?

What do you all think about Orijen and do you use Large Breed or the regular puppy....Thanks for your help...I feed my 2 year old Wellness Core and he loves it but I think I will be switching to Orijen because a local store is FINALLY stocking it next week.

If you're feeding it to a 2yr old, the regular adult version should work just fine.

Do the transition extremely slow, Orijen is an extremely rich food and it doesn't always work out. Make sure to adjust food intake level too, you won't need to feed as much on a daily basis either....most likely, not 100% sure on that, depends on your dogs intake needs.

I fed my Luna the Orijen Large Breed Puppy from 9 weeks of age to 7 months of age when we switched to Orijen Adult - very little differences between the formulas. Now I do a kibble rotation with my dogs. The Orijen formula has changed within the last year - deleting some ingredients and adding quite a few more. It's probably best for a dog that isn't extremely sensitive to a variety of ingredients. Overall, a very good company, IMO.

The main difference is the calcium level, which isn't an issue after one year of age. Raodi was raised on the Fish formula, which has the same calcium level as the large breed puppy, and I've been thrilled with it! All four of my dogs eat it now.

I am switching now to Orijen large breed puppy. Plan is to keep her on that until after her spay at 10 months. Then we will switch to an adult formula. I really like Orijen.

I've used and like Orijen. For 2 year old dogs, the regular adult is good no need for LB puppy at that age.

I've been feeding Bentley Orijen LB Puppy since October 2009 (we brought him home early September, and continuted with the food he was being fed with his litter- Eagle Brand Puppy)

I had quite a bit of people suggest something natural, or holistic within our first 2 weeks of having him, and Orijen is what I went with....and they carry it at the store right by my house, so it works out perfect.

I did go for the LB puppy, and I just started the adult food this week (trying it out). I switched becuase Bentley is most likely having some joint issues (vet said it could be elbow displaysia, but i'm still hoping for a second opinion) and that he was a little over weight. At 6.5 months he was 68 lbs, and vet had hoped he'd be 63lbs...

anyways, he'll be 7 months tomorrow, and the only reason we're switching, or i'm contemplating it, is to have his weight be more manageable to help improve/slow his growth down in hopes it'll settle his joints.

I'm new to this site, so once I have 10 posts, I will post his story, and hope for lots of help and input from all of you

The vet I saw said that Orijen is a well marketed food, but wasnt the best out there....just that a lot of people were using it because of the marketting, but that it wasnt a bad choice either (whatever that's supposed to mean!)

the vet i saw before this, said to feed the best food I could possibly afford....and to never feed anything from a supermarket.

We like it, i dont find it to be too expensive and he's never shown any complications because of it.

another thing, is the vet told me to feed 15% less than what the bag says to feed.

in total, my dog at 7 months is currently getting 3.5 cups of food divided into 2 feedings.
