On January 3 of 2009 i lost my best friend Oreo. I had her for 15 wonderful years. Her loss was hard being that she was my first dog.
About 2 weeks later i ended up heading to the Humane Society (just to look) and walked into the kennels and the first kennel had a cute little girl, so sad but excited that someone wanted to see her. After checking up and down the rest of the kennels, i kept going back to hers. She really caught my attention, being that i've never seen a brindle lab before. The Humane Society gave her the name "Cardena".
I ended up asking to see her and took her out (i ended up being there for over 3 hours). After having to put her back, i had put a deposit down on her ($25 so no one could adopt her for 24 hours, otherwise after that the money just gets donated). Ended up going back the next day with our old dogs giant leash and collar, and took one more look at her. I ended up bringing her home then and there. There wasn't much knowledge about her background. Whoever had her left her at the after hours drop-off. She was about 4 months old and only weighed about 20 pounds.
She now is 13 months old, 75 pounds, and a fiery ball of energy. I couldn't be happier
