    What do you drive?

I have two black labs, at a year old, 80 and 95 lbs...yes BIG! I am finding my car, Nissan Maxima is just not big enough.

I thought I'd ask around and see what other lab lovers with two dogs drive. I obviously need a bigger back seat for the doggies. Of course I have the seat hammock to keep them from falling to the floor.

My girl dog, Jasper (80 lbs)has already been diagnosed with hip dysplasia, major bummer, so jumping in and out of a vehicle is not suggested. I'm more than willing to get a ramp.

    thanks!!

This August I replaced my 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee with the new 2014 Jeep Cherokee. Despite similar outside dimensions, almost exactly the same width and length, the new Cherokee has much less cargo space than my old JGC. About 54 cubic feet to 72 cubic feet. However it does work for me even though my old crate is too tall to go in and I need to buy a new one. I put the back seats flat in both and the load floor in the new Cherokee is higher but Oban is only 72 pounds and I can boost him in and lift him out. I tried a ramp, it was too fiddly, but with the weight of your dogs I'd definitely need a ramp.

I just drive a subaru forrester, but my girls are both around 54lbs, so on the smaller size. We are most likely adding a dog in 1 1/2 years, but there is a possibility that we may inherit a Honda Odyssey Mini Van by then, so that will solve the space issue with dogs.

AHH, your dog pic is so cute! Your girls are on the smaller size, lucky you! I wasn't expecting my new pups to get this big and we are at a year. I sure hope they slow down growing!

Thanks for sharing. I will be checking out the Jeep Cherokee this weekend. I can't believe I'm buying a new vehicle due to my dogs being so big! Lab Love for sure!

    have a great day!

I drive bmw 5 series - the dogs travel in a boot in plastic beds & are very comfy in there. We'll be adding two more labs next year so we're not sure yet how we'll be travelling - we might remove back seats and just convert the car into doggy-waggon. One of my dogs is dysplastic as well so we don't allow him to jump out of the car - we've got a harness with a handle & he's being taken out of the car by one of us.

2013 Subaru Forester. DH is buying a 2015 Subaru Crosstrek or Outback when they come out. We live in upstate NY so AWD is mandatory. If it wasn't, I probably would've gone with a RAV 4 or CR V.

When we get our second chocolate, I want a minivan, probably a Toyota Sienna.

Though I only have one dog at present, the space in my Honda CRV was more than adequate when I had two Labs.

Ok you are going to think I'm crazy but I promise this is true. I drive a Toyota Prius. My Jax is 15 months and 75lbs. He fits great with lots more head room and because he has hip dysplasia it's easy in and out. He and my 5"5, 110lb son fit in the back with room in between. It's crazy, people always ask us when we have him how it works but there is just more room in there than people think (including me, we took him to try it out before purchase.)

    Good luck!

As Snowshoe, I have a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Did find that I could not get as big a crate in it as I wanted but Archie fits fine. Mardi cannot jump up or down at all so when she goes for a ride, I take the ramp and monitor her closely getting in and out. Very comfortable driving the Jeep.
