I use an undercoat rake to remove dead undercoat without damaging the guard hairs.
My gurls shed on a hormone cycle, very predictable, lol

Furminators also cut the top guard hairs. Really not the best brush to use...I can see during the big blow, it will pull out coat FAST, but as a regular brush it's more damaging than useful.

Oban is starting to blow his too. It's normal, though I agree it does not seem to make much sense to lose coat in the coldest weather. But all mine have done it.
My guys had a significant blow last month, too...still dwindling down from that. My guys get brushed every morning anyway so the increase is real obvious on their brushes.
Please don't use a...
All the Labs here blow their coats in December/January. It always starts on the date that daylight is longer. Everyone's always mad because their dogs are out of coat for the local big huge show in...
Grace and Jed both had teeth removed. Never missed a beat!
My Tootsie had to have a tooth removed. Sarah is a hard chewer and has already had one molar removed several years ago and now has an appointment to check another molar on the other side of her...
no experience with teeth but OMG! what a list of surgeries!
Same experience as SunDance and PopTop. Our boy had a slab fracture of a carnassial tooth but we would never have known it from his behavior. I had let them chew on raw beef bones, he especially...
Several of our labs have had to have extractions. They did very well. Started them on canned ground up food then put the kibble in a blender and break it up, add water and let soak. Gradually...
She'll be able to eat/chew just fine.
You probably already know this, but don't allow her to have anything to chew on that's too hard for you to want to hit yourself over the head with. ...

A friend’s dog had to have the plates removed after a TPLO because of a lingering infection. She did very well with the surgery and recovery. Hope Quinn does as well.
Dogs and people can get "contact irritant dermatitis" which can lead to bacterial infection. Were they wild raspberries? Was there poison ivy nearby? Seems to like the same growing conditions as...
Hi!
My older by was plagued with mysterious bumps on his chin/muzzle through the first 2-3 years of life, usually responding to antibiotics, too. I was actually starting to think he had some sort...
You actually can have a partial tear and still have instability in the joint. My 4-year-old dog Lily has had both of her knees repaired via TTA. The first tear happened when she was 9 months old...
no advice but sending good thoughts. it's not an easy decision. Penny (3ish year old bc mix) just had TPLO Wednesday. There is a Facebook group (though you have to read everything with a grain of...
This is tough because your Cocker is so small and Quinn does not seem to respect being told off. My dog would do the same thing as Maya but we have had a neighbour's dog, about the same size and...
I'd be using "leave it"...I use that for a lot of things. It sure worked well for us with our cats...."leave it...no kitty". "Leave it...no ears!" Repeat. Repeat. Repeat.
You have to teach her to exchange her prize for something better.
Winston tore his ACL in 2011, when he was 2 years old. He would start to limp after walks. Resting him seemed to help, but only for a time. Eventually, he got to the point where he could not put any...
