When I got Finn our breeder told us that she would not give any water after the evening meal, and they would go to bed at 10-11pm. She told us to not get up in the night even if he whined. Night #1 ,...
Sounds like he's doing well—probably just need a little more hovering of him. We kept Hoku in the kitchen (usually w/ one of us, cooking or at the computer there) in the first weeks. She had maybe...
↑↑ This. He is a baby, your expectations should be there may be accidents, it is YOUR job to take the puppy out often and keep him in sight constantly! Considering he was allowed to go anywhere...
At nine weeks, your expectations should be that you are doing all the work. :) Most people who have dogs that are potty trained at a very young age in reality are just managing their puppies really...
I would say your expectations are on track. Again though I am assuming you are doing possitive training on this. When he goes outside and potties then you make a big deal. Lots of praise and petting....
When he has accidents at night, is he in his crate? And does he give any sign first? The crate should be small enough that he can’t just pee/poop and then go to the other end to lay down. Since...
Am I understanding right, that Chet is 9 weeks old? (Not that you've had him 9 weeks?) If so, remember that he's very much a baby. It sounds like he (and you) are making great progress! What were...
Our 9 week old Hershey and 10 year old Brutus played continuously from the moment we brought Hersh home. Brutus was gentle and very patient so we knew Hersh would be fine (although I watched like a...
Why did you bathe him again? Just curious...
With Labs you want to be careful about stripping away the natural oils in their coats. And w/ it being winter, skin/ coats can get dry quickly as it...
Welcome from some neighbors a few states to the west! Congrats on Max! We have trained our Bacon to hunt, waterfowl and upland. He was an absolute dream to train, picked up on things quickly and has...
Crate your pup if you can't watch him. Tether if you can't trust him out of the crate. Offer chew things like kongs etc. Train and exercise. Distract from things your dog does want to chew and...
Welcome from another owner with a Maxx! He sure is a cute puppy, take lots of pictures, they grow so very fast! Those "cute" puppy days are gone so quickly, unfortunately not so for the landshark...
Hello and Welcome!
Ditto retrievertraining.net But if you're going to get a puppy, I would suggest you look into Bill Hillmann's videos. He has a somewhat different method but a lot of overlap with Smartworks. (In...
Welcome. Congrats on the new addition. He is a cutie.
I would try this forum, they are pretty nice to new people and helpful

How old is your pup? Are you looking for a hunting dog only, or do you want to do either hunt tests or field trials?
Both. I think Labs are all in all, an easier breed to train than any the Spaniels. They tend to be very forgiving of owner/ trainer mistakes on the whole.
Welcome
Welcome to the board. We went from an ESS to a Lab too. Was Daisy field bred? Our ESS was. She was a rescue we got at four years old, gun trained, purebred, registered. LOL, we did some field...
Welcome!
Welcome.. Handsome little fella you got coming to ya. I too have a Max . Here he is at 6 months old when he was given to us.3906
Welcome from a former Michiganian... (SE part of the state). I'd be willing to bet that your Lab will be easier in many ways to train, though potentially a naughtier puppy, lol. You are in...
