BB has had many recalls and there are many complaints about the food. If it works for you dogs you may be lucky. I do agree, it is not a food I would feed. You have to do what works for your dogs....

A full parasite panel can be pretty pricy, but the vet should run some basic tests for common stuff like Giardia. Also, some dogs don't do well on Trifexis, so maybe a Frontline + heartworm combo...
^^This! Testing for parasites, etc isn't that expensive nor is the treatment.
As for this guy's size is it possible his original owner wasn't taking the best care of him and feeding properly?...
33 lbs seems awfully small for a lab. Maybe he's mixed with a smaller breed. In any event, you need to get that diahrrea under control. If he's doing well with the BB, I would just keep him on that....
