Lost A Leash Today
Waiting for older GD at the high school and spot a young husky running loose. Oh heck, what am I going to do, GD will be out in a couple of minutes, me chasing a dog. Which is more important - of course a loose dog on a busy street. Got the leash kept in the car all the time and started out, husky out of sight. Then I see a school security guard trying to get the dog. Walking from the other direction, we had her between us, bent down and called "pup, pup" and good girl came right up to me. Collar on but so tight I could hardly get a finger under it and she was skinny. Leashed her up. Security guard asked if she was mine - nope. Was I going to take her - kinda hard picking up one grand at the high school, scooting over to the elementary school to pick up the other two. No crate in the car. He said he could take her and radioed the cops who are around as school lets out who are going to call AC. Handed him the leash and hurried back to the car just as GD was getting there.
After gathering all the kids, off to the AC to check on her. They were going to pick her up but the owner showed up; lives in the area. I expressed my concern about her condition and they said they were familiar with the dog and would keep an eye on her.
Down a leash but I don't care. Pup is off the streets and hopefully the future will be brighter for her.

Sounds like a good way to loose a leash!

Agreed, a donation.
You probably have more at home.

Good for you, but, hope it wasn't leather.

Thankfully not my good leather leash. Keep a couple of 5' leashes in the little cubby in the back of the car and a long lead on the other side. Yeah, I'm a collar and leash whore and proud of it. Everywhere I go I search the dog section and have gotten some fantastic buys. Great to pass along to rescues.
