hot spots.
I was giving Tonka some extra love today and found what we believe is a hot spot. It was pretty red, upon further inspection I found a few more scabs from what I'm assuming would be other hot spots. I've cleared the area as much as I could and applied peroxide, he really isn't bothered by it at all. Anything else I should be doing?

Where are the hot spots?
Melody had one on the side of her face, a place the ear flap covered. Rinsed it every day with luke warm water to soften the crusties and wash them away. no rubbing. Patted dry, no rubbing. Let completely dry and then applied Gold Bond powder (in the gold/yellow container). Warning: The powder is lofty to had to protect eyes and nose in her case. Continued daily and at the end of a week she was considerably better. I did not apply any creams, etc.
You can clip the fur some to keep it dryer and let air flow. Don't shave down to skin.
Good luck. It does take time to heal.

Please don't use straight peroxide...that stuff burns skin. Dilute it with water first. (no idea if this helps hot spots)

Did you do a search for hot spots? If you do, you'll get tons of ideas!

He's seeming to be better now. Scratched one raw the other night so he had to be coned but they are healing.

Good update. Keep up what you are doing. They do take a little while to completely heal.
