Victor vs. Pro Plan Natural
Some of you know that I've recently gone a few rounds with Maverick and some fur/poop issues.
Our new vet, well vets DO NOT recommend a grain free diet. They work in conjunction with each other. They all do general practice for vaccinations, but they each have a specialty as well. There's neurology, cardiology, internal med, surgical specialties...etc.
Their reasons actually come from the allergist/dermatologist from Texas A&M. Apparently the reason why many dogs do better on grain free food is because of the use of novel proteins. In actuality, most dogs aren't allergic to the grains but to the protein (usually chicken or beef) and that wheat allergies were mostly found in a line of Irish Setters. They recommended that we find a food with whole grains as a healthier option than grain free. While we don't plan on switching quite yet and plans may change depending on what Maverick's lab results come back as, we have been researching.
First, I'd just like to say that finding a whole grain food with a close to 30 protein and 20 fat ratio has been pretty difficult.
We have a number of foods on our list, but two that I don't know of anyone feeding.
Victor Hi-Pro Plus and Pro Plan Natural Plus. Has anyone used either of these foods? What do you think?
