Petsmart is buying Chewy.com. Hope the prices and service doesn't change.
Petsmart is affiliated with HSUS and PETA. I will not be buying from them. Chewy made a big mistake with this buy out. They are going to lose a lot of business and their prices will most likely increase. Its all over the internet and on FB dog groups.
I just got a letter from Chewy.....Tuffy's will no longer sell their products through Chewy.com. Guess they don't like PetSmart, either.
I just checked Amazon for the NutriSource variety I feed and see where the price is a lot higher. Then I went to Jet.com...looks like that's where I'll be going from now on.
I saw a TV ad for Chewy's this morning. It will be all downhill from here.
ON a positive note, I ordered a bag of food that was delivered last week and it had a big hole it in. I called Chewy's and they sent me another bag of food for free, without me asking for it. The reason I called was the hole was caused by throwing the bag of food on top of the bones that were in the box, and I wanted to make them aware of the packing issue. So for right now at least, things seem to be pretty good from a CS standpoint.
Chewy has always had great CS. I can't remember exactly what I'd read about when things were going to switch hands but the letter I got was typed and signed "Chewy family" and not the owner's names (like the Christmas cards always were)...so I presume they're already under new ownership. It would be good if they at least kept the original standard of CS, but....
I've bought from Jet before and was pleased...but never had a CS issue. I hope Jet will be the solution to my search because I want to keep the pups on the same food and know from calling around that the local (not all terribly local) stores aren't a guarantee to have it in stock and are definitely pricier than Chewy was. (and...yikes....the Amazon price for comparison; Jet is actually cheaper than Chewy and I just bought two bags in case there's a flood of interest initially after the Chewy letters are received.
The Natura/P & G switch and downfall is still too fresh in my mind for me to feel all warm and fuzzy about Chewy's future. Can't help it.
Champion and Fromm pulls their food from Chewy

I'm not surprised.
Too bad Chewy didn't sell to someone with more integrity.
Jet is owned by Walmart, Walmart invests heavily in China.
Petsmart is not affiliated with PETA, does donate to spay and neuter clinics, has been publically criticized by PETA

I've stuck w/ them mainly because their service and prices have been great. I phoned last week to ask if they'd redeem breeder vouchers for free bags of food (from Eukanuba) and they said yes, told me the best way to go about mailing (using a tracking #). Earlier this week after my vouchers had arrived, I phoned again, got another very nice guy on the phone who found the info, and had them applied to my account then and there. I had no idea the sale to PetSmart was final already, but it appears on line that it is. So far, I've seen no price increases and no change in anything online. Interesting point that PETA actually criticizes them, bueller!!! I'd say that's a positive. :)
I've used Chewy for a few years and have been happy. I like buying dog food in bulk, I feel better when I know I have enough to last a few months. Certainly easier than lugging everything through the store, to the car, and inside.
I don't understand why they sold to Petsmart. Petsmart has their own delivery/autoship and Chewy wasn't a small company to begin with.
Has anyone used PetFlow? I buy a lot of dog stuff on Amazon but never straight food. I don't know how it's been stored. I've read reviews where bags have had mold.
Petflow is good. I used to use them before Chewy. I just ordered from them again and I got my order super fast. They've been around for a while.
You're welcome!
hehe... if I bought for a few months... well, I used to shop the sales and do just that. But I'd have to use a whole wall of my garage to store it and that is fine w/ my adults but maybe not so great w/a puppy here (who may try to make an auto feeder out of every bag). Now to have it delivered every 2 wks in boxes is just so much better!!! :D
I'd never heard of Petflow. They're cheaper than Jet. With your recommendation, it looks like that's where I'm going to try next. Thanks!
I buy too much food and dog supplies. I go where the deals are. I've been happy with Chewy since the sale and just bought a crate from there (best price around for a heavy gauge wire 42" with 2 doors). We're trying a new food with our seizure dogs and I have to buy that from Amazon because no one else sells it and the company, who does direct ship, doesn't ship to 50 states, but will through Amazon.
They sure make it easy to change shipment dates and quantities as needed too. Plus one of my pup owners bought a crate for her car and found it was too big to fit. Chewy told her to give it to a friend or a rescue so our breed club rescue's auction now has a nice large pet porter added in!!!! I think they are great... Sometimes I wonder about PetSmart as their employees are quite anti breeder here locally but whatever. I guess it's a free country still.
I didn't hear of the sale of Chewy until they sent an email saying they would no longer carry Fromm foods and to ask Fromm about why. So I did and they explained. The cool thing is Fromm now has direct sales at gofromm.com. I love Fromm four star foods so much. Makes my pups so energetic, happy and healthy. gofromm is the same price as Chewy, free shipping and all that. I wont boycott Chewy because they have some great deals on crates, crate pads etc. Food and snacks i will get at gofromm or Amazon.
I"m in Canada so can't/haven't ever bought from them, but I heard that people loved them for the CS as well as the fact that they advertised actually healthy brands like Orijen, Acana, Fromm etc.. now all the advertisements are going to the unhealthy shit brands like Iams, Purina, Royal Canin, Pedigree, etc.. as well as the fact that they will no longer be selling Orijen, Acana, and Fromm as petsmart doesn't. Such as same as it used to be such a great place :/ I wouldn't buy from them anymore if I lived in the states
