Yesterday morning on our dog walk, I spotted two sparrows caught in the horrible plastic netting that's part of what the county uses on top of new grass seed. Don't get me started on how dangerous this stuff is to humans and other beasts alike. So...these two little birds are frantic...the stuff is all around their little feet and around their necks.
I'm going to help them. Dogs on sit/stay...husband, too, although I hadn't issued that command.
Problem...for about a split second....they were in a very lush growth of poison ivy. Oh well....
I finally found someone living near the lake who opened her door for me (a little after 7 in the morning) and loaned me a pair of scissors. Scared little birdies....somewhat covered in their own poo...that I cradled with my hands and my t-shirt. My poo-covered t-shirt.
I got the birds free. I hope all of the netting was off them...they flew off one at a time...the first one really fast....I really didn't see if I'd gotten it all. But I consider that a success.
I was going to use some poison ivy oil stuff on my hands when I got home. I got busy with rinsing out my shirt pre-wash....
And forgot to wash my hands with that special stuff. It's too late now. (I didn't remember till this morning...how many body parts have I touched so far???)
I sure hope I've gotten less reactive to this stuff as I've aged....I was up to my elbows. Oh yeah....I forgot....I also had to use my teeth to loosen the bit of netting from what was still very securely attached to the ground. So....my face....I'm sure....
