Today we had a terrible day. I woke up to see Cilek lying down on her pee. She is not doing well in the last 3 days and today was the worst.
I washed her legs and put her on clean mats. I've tried to give her some food but she refused to eat anything. Then I had a terrible headache and could not move until 2pm. I knew that I had to do something for Cilek but my body shut down. Same thing happened 9 years ago when I was confused about Tilya. I didn't know what to do and I slept for hours and hours.
Cilek was feeling bad either because of pain or because of Rimadyl's gastrointestinal side effects. She was and still is lethargic, had nausea, shaking and cannot stand up, cannot stand still even when I hold her. I wanted to increase her Rimadyl dosage but at the same time I was afraid of side effects. What if she was having a serious stomach issue? I talked to vet and she was pretty sure this was because of the pain.
Question here: Can pain cause this much trouble? Including vomiting.
I was giving her 50 mg Rimadyl daily but in the last week I felt like it was not enough. I talked to the vet to increase her dosage but he suggested me to use as little as I can. So I stayed at 50 mgs. Today I talked to another vet and she hardly let me give her 75 mgs. She is the one who said she is not feeling well because of the pain.
After a lot of thinking I've decided that she is in a lot of pain and stomach was not important at that point. I gave her 100 mgs Rimadyl in the evening. It's 1:30 am right now and she is not shaking, she ate some canned food (a/d) on her own and not vomitted. Even if she is still just lying down, I'm sure she is feeling better.
Tomorrow morning I'll give her 50 mgs and in the evening 100 mgs.
I will listen to my dog and my heart, not the vet this time.
In the meantime, I will try to get some Galliprant.
