They are bugging me for breakfast at 2:30 am. I don't know what it is. Age or something. Nikki has it in her head that she needs to eat whenever she wakes up because she hasn't adjusted to the time change. I may never sleep again.

I hate it too
I don't even care which time slot they use....pick one and stick to it. I've always hated the change but I'm a morning person so the one in Spring is easier for me to adjust to. This morning was the first morning that I actually stayed asleep until the alarm light went off (and managed to stay up to a reasonable time last night). I always adjust mealtimes etc. for the dogs for a couple of days before the actual change. This time of year, I don't want Dan having to go to the bathroom earlier than what he's used to based on his last meal of the day before. The pups seemed to adjust to their changed meal hours pretty well this time (I also had just adjusted things about a week ago because Sunnie's Rimadyl seemed to be running low before her dinner meal, so they've had extra to accept this time around.)
So you normally feed them at 3:30 am?
We must be the luckiest people in the world, one dog and five cats and they all let us sleep in with not a protest. But at supper, which is 5:00 pm, this is six days now, we've been on DST and they still think 5:00 is where 4:00 is now.
Who actually saves daylight, I'd like to know? IMO we lose daylight, it's dark an hour earlier at night.
Mornings are OK here, Henry sleeps in a crate in the kitchen and to keep him company, I often put Lark in her crate next to him or baby gate her into the kitchen. I figure if they can't be with us because of Henry's nighttime diarrhea, Lark's shoulder, and a variety of other reasons, at least they can be with each other. Neither of them vocalize when they're waiting in the morning in the dark until they see I'm up. If my husband gets up first, since he never feeds them, they open one eye to check and roll over and go back to sleep. Dinnertime is when Lark decides it's time to eat as soon as it starts getting dark around 3:30-4 pm and man, can she be insistent! They do like their schedules, don't they?
I just don't change. I stay the same schedule. Luckily I can do that. My hours are pretty flexable, start and end within 2 hours. So I can come in anywhere between 7 and 9. Work my day and leave between 4 and 6 depending when I started. So I just don't change. I keep my schedule the same and Hemi's.
I grew up in Indiana, back then they didn't change daylight time, it was great as I never had to readjust my schedule. However half the year we were off from everyone else. As a kid though didn't matter. When I moved to Michigan, I moved during a time change, took forever to get used to that hour difference then it changed on me again. I have hated it ever since.
Glad to see I am not alone! Cassie has been getting me up between 3:30 and 4:00 am since the time change. I've tried letting her whine (ie burrying my head under the pillow) and playing with her later in the evening hoping she will be too tired to get up early. No such luck! She's hungry and wants to play. I sat in a recliner the other morning at 3:30 am with her walking over and tapping me with her paw and sitting in front of me. I told her "Too Early" and tried to nod off. She went to the kitchen and fired her dinner bowl down the hall. Can you hear me now? (Who ever doesn't believe a dog can get you to understand what they want hasn't met a lab)
To add insult to this ... after breakfast and a trip outside, she is more than happy to crawl up next to me on the couch and fall asleep again!
I must be the lucky one. Brooks has gone from wanting to get up around 6:30, to actually sleeping until I get up, which was 9am this morning. Damn I love being retired!:bigsmile::bigsmile::bigsmile:
I'm with Barb, spring is easier for me too. With this one, I can't keep my eyes open after 9 p.m.!

Same here. but my internal clock still rings at a little before sun-up. Gabe just stretches and goes back to sleep, so I lay there in bed until the sun is just breaking the horizon. Then he starts nuzzling me to get up and get going-time to pee and get some food!!
