I'm SO losing track of the weeks. I think he's like 7.5 months.
LOL! I started a post and didn't finish it. How did it get posted? Presto probably did it, stepping on my keyboard. ;)
Presto is doing great in training. He's got an awesome, quiet hold on his dumb bell. He's got the first part of scent articles. His puppy go-outs are VERY enthusiastic! He has the tire for agility (obviously, it's on the ground) and he is also doing wraps. He's a retrieving machine and swims regardless of it being super cold out. We're going to my field trainer's place in a couple weeks to put him on a real bird and see how he does. Meanwhile, I'm taking an online class for field work foundations, just like I did successfully with Linus. Mid-February we are heading up to Vancouver BC for a private obedience lesson with Janice Gunn, focusing on heeling.
Dremeling his nails and bathes are super easy! He's awesome at vet stuff and being handled. He likes to do a little landscaping, especially with the bamboo, so I'll be fencing that off soon. He's also really into collecting all of the dog bowls, which I pay him for in cookies. But, he also then gets into everything else -- clothes, shoes, towels, blankets -- hoping for a cookie. So helpful! (NOT) But, it's better than the alternative and we get to practice delivering to hand several times per day. :) He and Linus are practically BFFs these days, which I am really happy about. He hates the gravel in my driveway. I think it must've poked him pretty bad, so I need to work on that.
Adolescence is coming. He's started marking when we are at a heavily marked location (trail head, for example) and one of his littermate sisters is already in season. So, some early bloomers! We went to the beach on Friday with my friend and her new boxer puppy. He was so good with her, slowing down when she chased him, not jumping on her. When Linus chased him for the amazing stick (LOL) he found, they went all out! I was pleasantly surprised by how he adjusted himself to her age/size/speed. That said, he does the same thing with one of my agility instructor's GSD pups, playing with her how she wants to be played with and not scaring her off with his Labrador-ness.
