I got a few recipes from pintrest on making homemade dog food. I still want to do kibble just wanted to add something to it. I don't feel comfortable going totally raw bc of supplimenting but I wouldn't mind cooking for my dogs.
Do I still need to supplimenting if I'm mixing it with Thier kibbl? What about if I just fed it cook Im guessing I would have to supplement then?
I also got lots of recipes for making your own dog treats. I'll save myself lots of money there!!!

When I do something homemade as a kibble topper (or just trying to feed Hudler who isn't very hungry these days), I just make a bland stew out of human food. Last night I did 2# of ground bison, 4 potatos, half a bag of shredded carrots and half a bag of lima beans. I added water and parsley. I crock potted it for about 7 hours and then blended it with the immersion blender (bad teeth for Hudler). Meat and veggies, can't go wrong. Now, he didn't like it, but the other dogs went NUTS for it.

Juno loves home made liver cake - it is her favourite treat and perfect for training - plus super cheap and healthy :)

I should also order fresh meat not buy from the grocery store correct? My husband hunts so we get fresh venison. Where do you get your bison from?

I feed my dogs half kibble, half home cooked diets. If it's going to be a significant part of their diet, and not just toppers, you will need to supplement with calcium. I buy a calcium powder made by NOW and my holistic vet gave me a sheet on how to calculate the amount. It's dependent on how much meat you feed. I buy all of their food at the grocery store, it doesn't have to be fresh off the animal. If you went all home cooked, you'd have to supplement with other vitamins/minerals. I couldn't tell you what, I haven't done that (yet), but I know that my holistic vet warns against going 100% home cooked without talking to them about supplements.

You won't need supplements if you follow some basic rules when preparing raw meals for your dog.
I do add some goodies like turmeric or spirulina, but I don't supplement with vitamins.

Home made toppers on kibble was our road to raw. I always thought raw was too complicated/hard. It's actually easier than kibble and home made toppers. No cooking. Raw muscle meat, organ, bone. No vitamins needed. We supplement with turmeric, glucosamine, kelp, glm powder, kelp and salmon oil as bonus benefit but not necessary.

My husband works for a bison rancher and runs a retail shop, so we get our bison there. But I also buy raw from a co-op. But I have no problems buying grocery store meat.
