Lost My Best Friend Murphy
I lost my best friend last Thursday. Murphy would have been 14 next week and it was hard to see him go. Even harder to see him suffer so we made the decision to finally let him run free with the others that preceded him to the Rainbow Bridge where they'll be waiting for us. My wife found this to help me with his passing.

Murphy led an interesting life.
We rescued him from the shelter at about 8 weeks old to replace another that had gone before him.
At 3 years old he was bitten by a rattlesnake and survived thanks to the anti-venom treatment. That was when we discovered the Snake Avoidance Training and the Rattlesnake Vaccine. All of our pups have since been trained and are vaccinated yearly.
Living along the Mexican border he had numerous encounters with smugglers both human and drugs. They used to lay up on my property resting and hiding from the Border Patrol. Caught him once being beat by a group till a round fired in the air caused them to stop and scatter. Here's one of their trashed layup spots.

The pups and their alertness have been responsible for several hundred apprehensions in my yard through the years giving us comfort, safety and peace of mind.

He loved camping and riding in our Rhino through the desert although in his later years with hip problems it was just being around us that brought him pleasure.
Since retirement he was my constant companion following me wherever he was able.
May you rest in peace my beloved Murphy
