The burps. The awful burps.
Thor burps. Several times a day. And his burps can clear a room. Luckily nothing from the other end...but at this point I think that would be preferred because there is no explaining how foul these burps are. The worst is when he comes into cuddle after eating breakfast and lays his head right next to mine, then....burp *crunch crunch crunch* because apparently he wolfed down breakfast so fast that the burp brought some up to enjoy a second time.
We feed him both soaked and non-soaked kibble and it doesn't make a difference. I thought it was because he eats so fast, so we also tried feeding him from a slow feeder (like the Kong wobbler) and it doesn't seem to help either.
Thing is, I'm hesitant to mess with his food since everything else is fine - his coat, his eyes, his breath (when he's not burping), his poops.
He currently eats ProPlan sensitive skin & stomach since we had a rough time switching him to an adult food that didn't give him the runs. He's been eating this since he was about 6 months old. It is salmon based.
He also usually gets a raw beef marrow bone once a day when he's out in the blacksmith shop with my husband. Other treats are varied - some days he gets apples and carrots, other days random training treats like Zukes, etc. Burps happen regardless of what treats he's given.
I'm tempted to try a different kibble to see if it helps with the burps, but at the same time I don't want to mess with what seems to work for him in all other ways.
The vet says some dogs just have stinky burps and if it bothers us to try new food. We're moving soon so that will introduce some instability - maybe once we get settled in at the new place I can experiment a bit.
What would you do?
