Thor started off with ProPlan puppy food and did great. When we tried to transition him to adult ProPlan he went full on runny poops and stinky burps. We ended up settling on the ProPlan sensitive skin and stomach and he's been stable since about 8 months old. His poops have always been on the runny side (even when we cut back drastically on volume) and his burps remain stinky. But his eyes are clear, his fur and skin are great, his energy and personality are positively off the charts, so we've been hesitant to mess with what seems to work.
Well, in the craziness of our move and discontinuation of Chewy shipments while we transition addresses, I realized the other day that his food was really low. I went out to restock his supply in our new (and smaller) town and I could not find the SS&S ProPlan ANYWHERE. So I walked into one of the higher end local shops and asked if they could recommend something to tide him over given his history.
They gave me about a week's worth of samples of NutriSource PureVita Grain Free turkey formula. I started it last night (cold turkey since I was out of his old stuff) and he's now had three meals on it and you guys? He had the best poops he has EVER had. I was expecting disaster but no. Perfect. Like, I would think they came from a different dog. It was the poop I dream of having to pick up with my little baggie, none of that soft runny stuff that he ALWAYS seems to have. His energy levels are off the charts right now but I attribute that to having a new 10 acres to explore - he's just a very happy dog right now.
I am completely unfamiliar with this brand, but if it continues to work out this well I don't care about cost (it came from the 'fancy' store so I don't expect it to be cheap). Any comments? Experience? Should I stick with this one? I'll give him a few more days on it to see if it continues, but there is no way I expected a sudden transition of food to go this well and I am smitten.
