I also agree that if you don't see any improvement after an antibiotic, he needs another Vet visit as soon as possible...perhaps he needs further testing.
I’m not honestly sure what I should be doing with Dozer.... waiting until he finishes his antibiotics or calling the Vet to get him seen again.
He is on his 7th day of antibiotics and is showing some improvement finally - his urine no longer smells metallic, he is able to go to the door and ring the bell to go out BUT he is still dribbling/leaking urine when he wakes up from his naps especially. Twice today he has slept for 2 hours in his crate and both times upon waking he has leaked urine - once on the floor while he sat while I put his collar and leash on and the second time he leaked urine while sitting up in his crate and then all over the kitchen floor getting to the door to go out. Thankfully he loves the bath as he has a couple today as his back end has bees soaked with urine from sitting in it.

His urine is bright yellow, almost fluorescent. He is drinking water and gets his kibble with water on it also. His blanket in his crate is white and my daughter was pointing it out this evening.

Any and all advice is appreciated!

I think sometimes when a dog has a UTI they treat them with what's called a broad spectrum antibiotic that covers a lot of potential bacterial causes but without actually knowing what exact bacteria is causing the problem and whether the drug they've prescribed will work. They are treating without doing a culture and sensitivity and it probably usually works out OK. How long is he supposed to be on his current antibiotic- 10 days? If he's about at the end of his treatment and isn't much better, I'd call the vet and let them know what you're seeing and ask what the next step should be. Poor guy- you don't want him peeing all over himself.

Yes his antibiotics are for ten days... he takes his last dose on Friday morning. He takes one pill twice a day.

The Vet looked at his urine on a slide, no culture and sensitivity was done so he is definitely on a broad spectrum antibiotic.

If it were me, I'd grab a urine sample and just drop it off at the counter at your vet. You really don't have to make an appointment since they can run tests on it. Just make sure the folks know what the symptoms are at this point. They will be able to run tests and let you know. Asher dribbled too and still does occasionally when he gets too excited (which is often thanks to Samson).

Oh, one thing I did forget to mention. I was convinced, I have no proof, that Ashers high protein food was causing the UTI. I had him on Orijen puppy but after reading about high protein foods being too much for some puppies, I took him off and put him on ToTW Salmon. It has 26% protein. He was on Orijen for about 3 weeks. What are you feeding your guy?

    Thank you

We have been keeping a log of his accidents and when he goes pee outside - yesterday in the ten hours he was awake ( I deducted time when he was napping) and from first pee of the morning to last pee of the day he peed 19 times ( that’s not counting the dribbles/leaks) To me that seems excessive, but then again he is only my second puppy and I’m certainly no expert on potty training.

I am going to drop off a urine sample this morning, they want the sample within two hours of obtaining it, so unfortunately it can’t be a first pee off the morning as he is up at 430am.

I looked at his food, it’s 28% protein, and I had read last night on another site about higher protein foods contributing to UTI’s. I will look into a lower protein food for him and slowly switch him over. His stools are still soft, despite the Forti Flora from the Vet, not sure what else to do to firm them up

UPDATE - I dropped Dozer’s urine sample off at the Vets this morning and got a return call this afternoon. The Vet tells me that Dozer doesn’t have any WBC or blood in his urine at this point, but what he does have is a very larg amount of Struvite crystals. I am going to collect another urine tomorrow in a sterile container and have it sent out for a Culture and Sensitivity test, to ensure the infection is completely gone. Does anyone have experience with puppies with Struvite crystals?? The Vet doesn’t want to put him on a Special Diet as Dozer is so young and it could affect his growth. He wants me to start him on Vitamin C, one tablet twice a day and to give Dozer bottled water instead of our well water. Dozer will have a repeat Urinalysis in two weeks.
    Thank you all once again!!

Asher didn't have those so I can't comment. Hopefully it all clears up soon and the vit c will lower the crystal count. Keep us posted. I know how challenging this UTI issue can be.
