    Long ago our Dalmatian caught a dove. It must have been sick as it was on the ground, wings kind of iced on a cold winter day. Tried my best to get as much out of his mouth but most of it went down. No repercussions. A cardinal is much smaller, don't think you have anything to worry about.

    Thanks. He’s having loose stool issues, but I think that’s more likely related to the giardia he picked up probably from either puppy daycare or the training classes (or the rabbit poop he ate.) He had no symptoms but tested positive, so he’s on antibiotics which might also be the cause. Anyway, no bird has come out yet, so I’m thinking his body digested it.

    Sigh. I’ll be very happy when he’s back to normal pooping!
