Yeah but also not a lawn. I mean if you can't grow a lawn, due to climate etc. Beats nothing, but yeah me, I am sticking with nice green grass.

Hog fuel is like coarse mulch? As a puppy, Lark loved eating mulch. She especially seemed to like it when I put Frank's Red Hot Sauce or Sriracha on it, to try to deter her. If you can call an obstruction minor, she developed a "minor obstruction" that required surgery. No hog fuel for us! I'm not worried about the green lawn that much, considering what my kitchen floor usually looks like!
Oh Diggity loves mulch too! And I swear he thinks he is a dethatcher because he digs at my grass and pulls out the dead underbrush stuff. And when I walk him down my street near the baseball fields, he goes after the clumps of grass that I think are from the cleats of the players. I honestly don't remember my Sprocket eating this much stuff, but maybe my memory has faded!
Brooks was guilty of this. He'd grab a big mouthful of grass and pull it up and try to eat it, roots, dirt, everything. He would also dig up the pots where he pulled up the grass. He also loved to hover up any mulch he could get his teeth on. He also felt the need to pull the bark off the silver maple tree in my back yard. And sticks. I had to walk the yard every time we went outside to make sure no sticks had fallen from the tree.
I finally fenced the area around the tree so he couldn't get to it. He grew out of ripping up the grass when he was almost 2. He had/has a pretty solid "leave it" but there are still moments that it all goes out the window with some random item.
