I'd run a poo sample to the vet.

Diggity goes through weird spells of runny poop that often I can’t pinpoint the source of. What typically happens to him is that they start off ok in the morning and get worse as the day goes on. It happened recently in fact and they were almost liquid at night. Next morning they were fine. When this happens and goes on for more than a few days, I give him some Caniotic paste and it seems to clear up within a day or two. I think in his case, he’s probably gotten into too much rabbit or goose poop or who knows what else. I have so many friends with puppies that have these bouts of runny poop and they can’t figure it out either. Makes me wonder if this is just typical of puppies as they grow.

I agree with the others though that a poop sample to the vet is a safe bet.

Runny poo due to peanut Butter?

I also swear by organic pumpkin (plain.) When he has runny poop, I give him a heaping tablespoon a few times a day and he loves it. And it really helps harden his poop.

Giardia is famous for causing issues for a couple days, clearing up for days, weeks, then coming back. Rinse and repeat. If the poo is incredibly smelly (not that poop generally is not) then that is a sign that it could be giardia.

I gave her some pumpkin last night and there was improvement: no middle of the night pooping, and her poop this morning had form.

I also skipped the rawhide bone last night. I’m not sure if the new bag might be off, or if she’s eating more of it because her adult teeth are coming in, but it’s an easy thing to remove from her diet.

Be careful of rawhide...this can cause upset. Especially, if not sourced in the USA. You want to stay away from 'made in China or other places for that matter.

Just out of curiosity what kind of peanut butter are you using? I know most of the commercial brands have sugar and maybe other stuff added. I use one that the only ingredient is peanuts, nothing else.

Right now, she's been having Skippy because that's what I eat and I donated the remainder of a jar to her. I don't think PB is the cause of her poo issues; I re-introduced it with no ill effects. She's okay with banana, pumpkin, and peanut butter.

Things get trickier (and squishier) if other treats get in the mix. DH had been complaining about Stormy's breath so I bought some mint bones from Trader Joe's. He gave her one yesterday afternoon and that evening her poo went to liquid. So, no more mint bones for her!

Kimber had a cast iron stomach, so this is a new consideration for us.
