Any tips for keeping puppy energy occupied after being spayed?

Bella was spayed yesterday afternoon and of course - today - she wants to carry on with life as usual. It’s been 20 years since my last spay experience, so I’m a little bit rusty....any tips for keeping her occupied and relatively quiet? I’ve removed her toys that aren’t chew toys, since she wants to throw and toss and run around with her stuffed ones. She’s got a stuffed Kong in the freezer for this afternoon that I hope will last for a little while. I tested out some food puzzle toys (before her spay) and she’s pretty energetic in tackling those, so I’m hesitant to give them to her right now.

She doesn’t normally do much that’s low-energy, so any ideas for keeping things zen here for a few days would be appreciated!

Amber's vet allowed us to start taking her for short walks about 3 days after her surgery. They said to do less than half of what we normally walk her. She settled well when I gave her a Yak chew and a stuffed Kong like you mentioned. All in all she did great but had to watch her wanting to jump up on the futon and off again. They are so darn quick you can't hardly stop some of their activities. Hope Bella heals quickly! How old is she?

It’s really hard. Frozen kongs, food puzzle toys, short leashed walks, and lots of enforced crate naps is how we got through the 11, very long, days.

Can’t wait to take her for walks soon! She’s eaten a both yak chew and a Kong today (got an hour out of each of them)... she’s managed to get up on the sofa a few times, but once she’s up there I don’t have the heart to kick her off and I just help her down when she’s ready to move. Bella is just over 7 months old. She’s doing well, but we’re struggling a bit with the ‘low impact’ part of this program . She had more bleeding than usual so they were a bit concerned that she take it easy today. She looks so much better today now that the drugs from yesterday have worn off and her incision is looking good. Fingers crossed that I can keep her chilled out for a couple more days!

Keep the cone on her....that works to subdue enthusiasm.

Our vet knew Thor pretty well and when he was neutered she gave us some pills to help keep him calm since she knew it would be hard. Can't remember the name now, we just called them the "doggy downers". Those, combined with stuffed kongs and puzzle work (hiding toys and sending him to find them) got us through the first few days before he was able to move around more.

Amber was the same age when we had her done. I know so many want dogs to not be spayed this early but I think they bounce back better the younger they are. Hope today is getting better for you and Bella!
