I had to look up eimeria but I have heard of coccidiosis, which I guess eimeria can cause. Maybe more of us have heard of coccidia. I haven't had any dogs with it, to my knowledge.
Not surprisingly, Diggity picked up eimeria most likely from rabbit poop. His system is wonky now and his poops are soft serve. He’s on metronidazole and panacur because we suspected giardia, but he tested negative. Eimeria is a pass through parasite, meaning they can’t become a host to the parasite, but it can upset their system as it passes through. The vet said finish out the meds. Apparently metronidazole can help calm their system. Meantime he’s on ground turkey and rice and Dr. Harvey’s Runs Be Gone powder. He’s also on a good probiotic. When this ordeal started last week he had liquid poop, so at least it’s slightly better but not by much.
Anyone have experience with eimeria?
(We had some warm days in Boston and all the snow melted. Apparently the rabbits came back! Ug!!)

Never heard of it. But metronidazole can cause diarrhea....Dan can't take it.
Oh interesting. Diggity's sister, who is extremely similar to him in terms of things she gets into including rabbit poop, was taking metronidazole for runny stools and her vet said the same thing as mine about it calming their digestive systems down. Well, he only has two days left of it, so hopefully it will firm up after that.
Oh my goodness...so sorry to hear!
I've never heard of Eimeria...but I know Labs love rabbit poop!
Hope Diggity is on the mend soon.

No help, but as Stormy also loves bunny poop, I now have another outcome to consider.
Hope Diggity firms up soon!

Metronidazole and tylosin have generally worked well to clear up diarrhea in my pooches, like within 24 hours things have gone back to normal. They don't always stay that way if they haven't been on it long enough, but as long as they're taking it, all is well. Both meds are supposed to have some anti-inflammatory properties. My daughter's dog, who had biopsy confirmed IBS, took metronidazole when she had flare ups. I'm sorry it's not doing the trick for Diggity, or it kind of is but not what one might hope. Wishing good poops soon for Mr D.
