    Kennel cough

It’s looking like Stormy has kennel cough, sigh. She was her usual self Friday, and that night she started coughing. It sounds like the classic goose honk. She’s lower energy than usual, but otherwise is acting normally. I’m giving her Vitamin C and echinacea to boost her immune system, and just gave her some honey for her throat.

The house arrest is challenging. We alerted the neighbor who has her play buddy (since she played with him on Thursday). I hope he doesn’t contract it. We’re walking her on leash in the yard because we don’t want her to get near the next door neighbors’ dogs.

I hope this is a mild mild case that resolves quickly!

Aw gee, poor puppy. Was she vaccinated for Bordatella? I've heard of so many vaccinated dogs getting it anyway.

Hoping for quick recovery. I wonder if that had anything to do with your Jinx thread.

Yep. I believe it’s like our flu shot- they inoculate against the most common strains, but there are a bizillion viruses that could cause it.

She even had her booster just last week. That should hopefully keep her symptoms milder.

The incubation period is 3-10 days. In that window, she was boarded, did daycare, and went to the dog park. Any could have been the exposure.

Hope I don't triple-jinx myself but... after coughing on Friday night, Saturday, and Saturday night, she only coughed a few times yesterday, and not at all last night! Now we're hoping it's just a reaction to the vaccine. We'll keep her isolated for the time being, of course.

You know, if she was doing a lot of running/panting on Jinx day, the air hitting her throat so much could have dried it out/irritated her. We have really sensitive throats in this house and that's the sort of thing I might notice, especially with Dan. He's also a reverse sneezer and has bouts of goose noising from time to time.

Hope it was just the vaccine or as above.
