Concerned with Ocean Salt Water for pup

Tucker and family are headed to the beach for a vacation. Being that he is 4 months old and he does like the water, I'm concerned with how much contact I should let him have with the ocean because of the salt. Any thoughts?

Growing up next to the Ocean we always had our dogs playing them. when ever they let them go swimming we just hosed them off after to get any dried out salt. so in terms of water he should be fine. Just make sure he doesn't drink it. I'd be worried about sun exposure the most and always be on the look out for rip current/undertoes. Not sure if they are common in your area.

Also, make sure your pup got a good recall, since other people might not love dogs as much as we do.

Enjoy the beach! Take lots of pics!

Nothing to worry about, i actually worry way more with fresh water. He will probably drink the water and get major canon butt for a few hours. Just make sure to bring plenty of fresh water (I bring a gallon just for the dogs) and a bowl. I use stainless steel bowls at home but they get hot so I have a plastic one for the beach. Also have plenty of bags handy.

I take my girls to the beach several times a week. No problems.
I use 10' cotton leashes, to comply with leash laws and I carry poopy bags (because they always poop when there is an audience)
Watch what's in the sand - my girls once found some oreos and now search for more! Yesterday they found shrimp, used as bait and left by some guys fishing. The shrimp had cooked in the sun.
I always rinse them off with fresh water afterwards with the hose.

Great advice thanks! I have a 30 ft cotton leash so he can have a little freedom.

Lots of good advice. Also, I suggest reading up on "cold tail" syndrome. It doesn't happen to all dogs but it can be freaky when it happens to your pup. Kimber got it once in the ocean, and once from swimming in a friend's pool. Object moved

I would be real careful if he wants to drink the salt water. Too much can be deadly.

I find the idea of this stuff absolutely gross and scary! I saw a warning published over in Pompano Beach. I didn't know we had warnings over on our side, too!
This just takes all the fun out of having a water dog down here - crap!!!
