Good to hear there was no UTI. Who knows why they do some of the things they do but you are always better off safe than sorry!

Glad to hear there is no UTI. Want to mention you should never vaccinate unless the dog is 100% healthy. I would not vaccinate a dog with a UTI. Should also not vaccinate when in heat.

I would get your pup on crancaps to help prevent UTIs till her first heat can correct her RV. Not all dogs with RV will have constant UTIs (some never have any)

    See this info on RVs

Yeah, our vet is really good about making sure the pup is healthy before vaccines, so we don't have to fight her on that! And thankfully our vet is totally on board with us waiting until ~18 months to spay, which is a relief.

I will look into the crancaps. I take it that there's nothing wrong with giving them to our pup even though she's healthy?

My vet preferred us not to use them for Luna's RV, she recommended wiping with hypoallergenic baby wipes. But chances are it won't hurt them. If you go for them, make sure to get them made for dogs and 100% cranberry extract.

My vet also said they can receive vaccines when in heat. So use your judgement and talk with your own vet about all these things. Nobody knows what's right for your dog except for you.

Nothing in the crab caps can hurt your puppy and if they help, that is awesome. Definitely use the fruit extract not the ones made from juice extract. You can actually use human cranberry caps, there is nothing that would cause issues with them and they are probably cheaper.

Human crancaps are fine and cheaper than canine. I start RV pups on them at 6 weeks of age. There is all the info on proper form (fruit extract, good concentrate ratio, etc) in the link I gave you in my first post.

You should not vaccinate a dog while in heat because the hormones can set off a reaction from the vaccine. This is info from Jean Dodds that I received personally in an email from her. She knows more about vaccinating then many vets.
