    Fur Changing color

Two things. Mollys fur on the back of her ears is starting to look more brown. Could this be her bringing in her adult coat.

Other question is she has what looks like bites on her belly could this be an alergy as it is not fleas. They only seem to bother her in the mornings

Molly is a mix, right? So you aren't going to know for sure what she should end up like. But my pure bred black girl did develop a noticeable brown mane down her back from her neck to her tail at around 8 months or so. It all fell out when she shed the next spring but it was definitely brown. Our breeder said it happens sometimes and equated it to cradle cap in babies, human babies. Not the same timing but the same effect. Plus the black ones will often look rather brown when they are about to shed.

Bites, dunno. How do you know for sure they aren't flea bites? What about ant bites?

Yes Molly is a mix but I am sure she is getting close to the age of losing her puppy coat.

It might be ant bites. I have checked for fleas and no one else in the house is getting these bites or bumps. All fur family has had flea treatment as well.

Has she been swimming recently- sometimes a rash can develop of small spots (often staph) if they swim in stagnant water etc. Also can develop if their underbelly is left wet and not dried.

Otherwise there can be bites from other insects not just fleas.

Just keep an eye on them and hopefully they will gradually disappear.

Portion and Bandit both got mahogany hues when the undercoat was ready to shed.

Are you using a new floor cleaner or cleaned the carpet? Bandit reacted to the solution used in the carpet cleaner. I would clean with the solution and then immediately go back over the carpet again with plain water.

Emma got brown on her neck area around 9ish months. I thought it was the puppy fur going away and adult coming in. Now she's all black.

No new floor cleaners. She played in a fresh puddle yesterday but I dried her. I had taken her to the vet about it before and he said possibly fleas but I am certain it is not. I guess Ill keep an eye in it. Thanks for all the responses.

It's not unusual for blacks to had a rusty browning undercoat. You can really see when the blow their coats.

How far to the back are the spots on her belly? Could they be urine splash? We had that with our Honey...I forget what the vet told us to use to clean the area and how often but I'm thinking it was Chlorhexaderm 3 - 4 times a day.
