I do not put them in the same crate for any reason. Chase is 8 years old so if I only have one crate available, Lark is in the crate, Chase is out, because Lark will get up on the sofa, tear up the box of tissues, chew on any ponytail holders left on the end table, and then go looking for trouble. We have 2 regular crates set up in the house but Lark is usually the only one crated. If I'm home and leave the crate door open, Chase goes in all the time for a rest as long as Lark is not in there. Additionally, we have 2 lightweight collapsible travel crates because Chase loves being in one so much that he is happier in unfamiliar places if he has a crate to go into.
I don't look at pets on Petfinder or Craigslist or anyplace else if I'm not actively looking for a new pet. My cousin, who lives in another state, posts pictures of cats and dogs nearly every single day from a local animal shelter near her. I've considered unfriending her so I do not have to see all those sad, sad faces.
