      Pooping

How often should a dog poop? Oliver hasn't pooped since 6:30am and it is now 2:30pm. He usually goes an hour after breakfast but nothing. Hopefully he will poop after dinner in about an hour or so. How long should I wait before i need to get concerned?

I wouldn't worry just yet. If you're really nervous, add a spoonful of plain pumpkin or yogurt to his dinner.

If he's still not pooping tomorrow noon, give your vet a call. Like us, they can get constipated. Make sure, if you can, that he gets lots of water.

Does he eat kibble or raw? My dogs on raw are inconsistent poopers. On kibble they pooped all the time. Have you tried walking him? That always works for us (I call it RIP or Running Induced Poop).

the other thing being a puppy as they get older they poop less. The digestive system is still forming when they are pups. My boy at 8 weeks was about 8 times a day. I think by 6 months was 4 times a day and at a year old was twice a day. Now at 3 it is once or twice a day. Usually 2 one day one the next, 2 one day and one the next.

So true. Daisy used to be 3-4 times a day and now is usually 2 times a day like clockwork. But lately it's often just 1 time per day. Kinda nice!

Thanks everyone for the advice! He pooped after dinner yesterday. Guess he is just pooping less as he gets older which is fine with me. Less to clean up!
