how old was Ellie on that first visit?
here's why I ask;
I was putting away next months dose of trifexis and I did something very radical for me, LOL, I read the package,
"puppies less than 16 weeks may experience a higher rate of vomiting"
if your continuing to use the same vet, I would ask some pointed questions.
just passing this info along.
best to that cute girl there.

I don't like combos either. I use Heartgard and Frontline Plus/Vets Best flea & tick spray.

For HW I use Iverheart Max. I like that it also takes care of tapeworms.
For fleas/ticks I use Natural Chemistry Natural Flea & Tick Spray. You have to use it more than once a month, but I wanted to cut down on chemicals after Shasta had the MCT removed last year.
I prefer not to use products on my dogs until they have been around long enough to have a history behind them and my vet does not recommend using it. Although I have read many stories of sick dogs on the internet that is not the basis for my decision. My vet does not promote it and will not use it for his own dogs either so I don't have to deal with the sales pitch. I trust my vet and his advice.
I am not telling anyone else not to use it, just voicing my opinion. I thought that was what the OP asked for, opinions on what others used for HW and flea prevention.

I see many are using frontline, I also used it on my previous dog, trying to keep him out of the rain for the first 24-48 hrs., no complaints with how well it worked.
Rocky has access to water and is in it every day, sometimes twice, will a topical work under those circumstances? I'm thinking not very well.
Vectra3D dries much faster than any other topical I have used. I put it on before bed and Maxx is in the pool the next day. I have never had any issues with it losing effectiveness.
