Exclamation Latte has diarrhea. Weird diarrhea.

Latte had very loose poop once in a couple of days, in last weeks. Vet said it was not a big issue and suggested me to feed her with chicken and rice. Three days ago, Latte started to have very very loose poop 3 times a day. The first poop of the day was normal. Also, it takes her a long time to poop. She squats and tries to poop for about 2 minutes. Last night, she woke me up whining, I took her out and she pooped a very very loose one again. She is 17 weeks old now and she has never woke me up at night since she came home at 8 weeks old! Ever. (I was lucky)

What do you think I should do? I want to know what I can do before taking her to my idiot vet. (I have trust issues with my vet and haven't found a reliable one yet)

She hasn't pooped since she pooped at 4:00 am. It's 1:48 pm now. I fed her chicken and rice for breakfast. Not sure if I should give her regular kibble as well.

Just the chicken and rice is what we do, gives the tummy a chance to settle down for 24 hrs. It could be a parasite, that would need to be treated. First they should test a sample of the stool.

Thank you! So how much chicken and rice blend should I give her in a day?

I would give a little more than a whole day's volume of kibble but divided into four small meals. No kibble. Re introduce kibble after a day of good poops. Poops might still be a bit soft but pickupable.

My first thought was giardia. Sometimes hard to catch on the fetal exam since it does not "shed" with every poop. It may take a couple of samples.

Agree with Snowshoe on the diet.

My first thought is giardia as well. Its a difficult parasite to detect even in a fecal exam.

Have you noticed any mucus or a strong smell?

If the issue continues even with bland food, I'd bring a stool sample to the vet. Can be intestinal parasites or bacteria.

I fed her chicken and rice only. She pooped only once today. Interesting. Vet wants a sample but she didn't poop again. When she does I will take a sample. And I saw some mucus in the only stool today but I didn't take a sample because it was before the vet visit. By the way, I have just found a vet that seems to be trustworthy. So glad.

Should I continue with chicken blend or switch to kibble tomorrow? I hope she'll be okay. Thanks for the help guys.

It's 2:10 am and still no poop. Should I be worried about it?
