    Puppy play dates

I need to know some folks opinion. I am planning to officially take possesion of my new bundle of joy on June 3rd. But between now and then my family will be in temporary housing and we cannot have a dog with us. But we were planning on going to pick him up a couple of weeknds here and there between now and June and then drop him back with breeder only to do it again maybe. On and off until we are in the other house.

My question is, does anyone think this will confuse or due a bit of damage to our budding relationship? I was initially thinking this would be okay, and even good for us to bond with the little dude before he officially moves in. But now I am having some reservations. Am I being a lame weirdo? Be honest please.

Honestly? Dunno. My sister's dogs spent daytimes while Sis was at work with Grandma. Sometimes at Grandma's house, sometimes at their own house. We always said both dogs weren't sure if they belonged to Sis or to Grandma but it worked out ok. But this was on a daily basis, not weekends and then a gap of five days between the next visit. And nights were always at Sis's house.

I do wonder if it might be too disturbing for a puppy to, in a sense, change homes so many times at a young age.

That is essentially my thinking as well. Maybe we need to just relegate it to a few nice day visits, maybe I can find a nice little dog park nearby, or go to the beach for a few hours. Then bring him back.

Or I can stop being so darn excited and wait until it is time to go get him for his forever home!

It certainly is a hard choice.

I don't think a few daytime trips would be crazy though.

I had a vacation planned when we got Grace. We got her at 7 weeks, kept her a week, brought her back to the breeder for a week, and then picked her up again. It made no difference to anything. Jagger goes between my house, the co-owner's house and the handler with no problems adjusting, and he's been doing this since he was 8 weeks old.

Dogs adapt to their surroundings. I wouldn't worry about it.
