(I'm shopping around for something that will hold two lab size crates plus my two kids.)
    It's a 2012 Ford Explorer.

The company that makes them in Sweden just started distributing them in the US within the last year or two. They use the same crumple zone technology that our automobiles do. Since we travel a lot for training and shows, I have been trying to put together a setup I like. I've gone through various iterations and am finally happy with the Canvasback cargo area cover, the Variocage, the Rollmat bumper guard, and the Petloader folding stairs. The stairs were the last puzzle piece. I like them better than ramps, as they are easier IMO to handle in confined spaces and fold up smaller than ramps, which is helpful when you are carting around all your clothes, etc. as well as the dogs' junk.

Hope we can catch up at Potomac next year!

Our breeder said it would be ok if pup came home on our laps during the three hour car ride. We used a large plastic box lined with a towel just in case there were any accidents. We kept a toy in there for him to play with which he decided to ignore but soon, became his favourite. Instead of staying in the box, for the first hour, Bobby decided he wanted to enjoy the view and attempted to climb out onto our laps. Eventually, after a few minutes of whining and licking the seats, he fell asleep.

Normally, Bobby travels with a seat-belt.

Daos, I love it! I have a 2013 explorer sport, and have been looking to buy something similar. Do you have problems with the cup holders in the third row blocking anything? If you don't mind, can you PM or FB the make/model to me. I know it expensive..LOL! I can't even get a 42" wire in there, its too low. Poor Corbin is all smushed in 36"!!!

Hi Lauren! The cupholders back there are annoying (I say NO drinks for 3rd row people! LOL!), and make it a tight fight, but the crate fits. At training and shows people often asks if the crate was made custom for the Explorer, because it JUST slides in. With the tie downs that come with the crate, it is super secure back there. The crate comes with a divider but I don't use it. My two boys fit in there and ride together, so Corbin and Owen, if they are okay snuggling, would fit. I will PM you the crate info. Kiss your boys for me!

We have an SUV with a barrier in the back - so he can't jump over the seats. He goes pretty well back there and likes looking out the back window if I'm feeling lovely, I let him ride in the back seat so he can put his head out the window. Normally I prefer him being behind the barrier so I'm not distracted by him or worrying about him while I'm driving

On the way home from the Airport though he rode on our laps - how could you not when they are so cute? (and it isn't 30 kilos sitting on your lap!)
