So the front leg injury we’d been dealing with has cleared up - back to full activity, no signs of limping in the last couple weeks. Was mostly gone prior to that but we had one or two flare-ups after wrestling with her sister on the hardwood floor (guessing because it was slippery - running and playing outside wasn’t a problem, nor was playing on carpet).
Last night, I don’t know what she did - they were outside at the time, but she came in limping on a rear leg this time. Seemed if anything to get worse through the evening. At one point, she was whimpering, and couldn’t seem to get comfortable, wasn’t putting much weight on it, etc. I was of course thinking cruciate and planning on calling the vet in the morning. We gave her a half-dose of Rimadyl and had her sleep in a crate overnight (so she wouldn’t try to jump on/off my daughter’s bed where she usually sleeps).
This morning it is like nothing ever happened. I doubt it’s the Rimadyl, it was a low dose and has almost certainly worn off by now. No longer thinking cruciate, but wondering what exactly she could have done to cause SO much pain that is gone in 12 hours. Still making her rest today though.
I swear this puppy will give me gray hairs. We’ve had almost 20 years experience with Labs, and I have NEVER had a pup who had so little concern for her own body. She just flings herself around willy-nilly with zero sense of self-preservation. I mean, Labs aren’t the most careful bunch but she takes it to a whole new level. Sigh ....

Sassy, you need to be more careful! You make us, and your mom worry too much!

I had pretty much the same thing happen with Bruce when he was about 14 months old. We had come back from the pond, and I was spraying him off with the hose, he's jumping and acting like a fool. Next thing I see, he's limping bad on one of his back legs. I think the same thing, cruciate tear. We go to the vet, he gives us deramaxx. I gave him one with his dinner, he wakes up the next, no limp, completely normal. No clue.
Glad she's ok!!!

hopefully it's just a quirkly puppy Maybe she's just sensitive and likes to over exaggerate issues?
Weirdest thing I saw - my friends husky will limp after a "scuffle/fight" (just tiffs between dogs). like full on serious OMG SHE IS INJURED limp. luckily my friend has caught on and doesn't panic until some time has passed (and the dog is always fine) :P I also had a dog I thought was dying - never saw anything so sad, or a dog so lethargic. Much $ and trips to the vet later our best guess is it was gas :P I told the adopters to watch him cuz he's a bit of a wuss :P

I was wondering if she was just being a baby about things, but I don’t get that sense from her. Mulder on the other hand was a WIMP. We accidentally dremeled his nails too short one day and he wouldn’t walk on that foot for the rest of the day - that was our first cruciate scare, LOL.

Rough and tumble, bumps and bruises. Hope that's all it is. Sounds like she just goes about life full on.
Compared to labs, I consider Archie a wussy. I accidentally stepped on the tail fur, not the tail, and you'd have thought I was beating him to death. He's quick to yelp but no real injuries, so far, knock on wood.

Seems to be perfectly fine today - no limping after a long walk and subsequent rough-housing session with her sister.
We are beginning to lean towards the “She’s being a baby” explanation, LOL.

Glad Sassy is better, thankfully they are so durable. But i agree, all mine also seem to think they're invincible and do the craziest things...
