My first Lab was 3 when we got him. His were the epitome of droopy. They never gave him a problem but I was constantly cleaning off his face...dark brown stains on his almost white face.
Hello, all, my Amie has lower droopy lids.. the hound dog look. When she is very tired.. you see the red in the lower lids. I have done some research but will take her to vet for his advice. He owns yellow labs and I trust his opinion. Many other lab owners have had this issue. I have had a variety of responses. One was that theirs grew out of it... or that it was never a problem as long as there are no eye infections. Amie's right eye has a small clear seepage. I have had some say theirs had the lid surgery which results are very good. I would love to get feedback on the causes.. breeder says non evidence of this in the family line... also feedback on anything about the outcome... or whatever!!! I do know at her 12 week check up.. he looked at the eyes and they were drooping.. or the red was showing and he did not say anything.
Thanks,
Zoo

Grizz has droopy eye lids. Passed all his eye exams with the canine ophthalmologists too.

I’m not sure how old she is, but if she’s still growing, I wouldn’t worry too much at this point - her head is probably still changing and that will affect her eyelids. If it is causing problems when she is fully grown, then you can decide if it needs to be dealt with.

Amie is only 5.5 months old.. very wrinkled face... so sweet.... I will submit photo when I get home. Another lab owner said the same thing... she is not filled out yet... Thanks, Zoo
Bacon has droopy eyelids. The only problems we have had is the constant eye boogies and the occasional irritation (the first of which we thought was pink eye, rushed him to the vet, only for the vet to tell us it was just from the fact that his eyes got irritated at the lake). Our vet said its not an issue unless he starts showing problems from it (infections, etc. )

I bet you can tell which one Brutus is.
Many lab puppies have loose eyelids while growing. Don't worry about it unless it's bothering the dog (lots of scratching at eyes or rubbing face on the ground) or colored discharge. IF you do want to worry about it, go to a canine ophthalmologist, not your regular vet.
Agree with others. Droopy eyelids are not abnormal and they can grow out of it. They can grow out of the seepage or it could be mild allergies, whether environmental or food.
