Honestly, I think you are fine but keep an eye on her for symptoms of a UTI, they are fairly common.
Hi all,
I just got my first puppy- she's a beautiful 9.5 wk old yellow lab and has exceeded all of my expectations regarding her behavior thus far. Don't get me wrong- she's still a puppy, but sleeping through the night and (through vigilance) making it outside most of the time for bathroom breaks.
She has never messed in her crate, and so I know she has pretty decent bladder control (8 hours at night, and 4 hours during one day when we absolutely had to). Yesterday when I came home, she had just gone out to go to the bathroom. Within an hour, she went at least 5 more times- twice outside and 3 times inside. I caught her mid-act two of those times and took her outside where she finished peeing.
By the last house accident, it looked like pure water- colorless and odorless. Is this normal?? This had also happened (but only 3-4 accidents in a short period of time) the day before. Today she has been with a family member due to a long work day for me, but has not had any accidents. I don't want to freak out about the little things, but I have to also mention that she has been in the lake near my house daily in the last week and a half. My vet said that she should not swim until at least 4 months because of the possibility of leptospirosis, and that the symptoms would be excessive thirst and urination. We live right on the lake and are swimming quite a bit. She loves the water and I have not kept her out...
Should I be concerned? Any advice would be so appreciated! I read this board excessively before the crash, and learned so much from you all!

Since she is holding it for so long I'd watch for a possible UTI. It sounds like it is an isolated incident, but keep an eye on her.

What you describe sounds like a UTI to me. I would be taking a urine sample to the vet (collected first thing in the a.m. prior to food or water and in mid stream) to be sure.
I know others tell you just to keep an eye on her.............. I would not wait with the symptoms you describe (she had just gone out to go to the bathroom. Within an hour, she went at least 5 more times- twice outside and 3 times inside.) with such a young pup. Take a sample in to be sure.
I would also be heading the advice of your vet in the Lepto/swimmining issue if there is prevalence of Lepto in your area. From what I have heard the disease can be deadly.

My chili didn't pee that much as a pup and I was super protective of where chili went until he was fully vaccinated. I had read puppies can get parvo from just sniffing invected dogs poo. So I would play it safe.

Puppies plus water (from swimming to big bucket) equal lost of peeing. I'd keep her away from the lake for a couple days and see what you have before getting too excited.

I agree with Nicole. Water in= water out- especially with a young pup. If she's away from the lake a couple days and is still urinating that frequently, then I'd get her checked for UTI.

Thank you all so much for reading and responding. Macie has not had any usual bladder symptoms or excessive peeing the last few days, so I am going to keep a close watch going forward but I'm hoping nothing is wrong at this point. I am probably excessively protective of her in all other areas, and have not let her go around any other unknown dogs. The lake that she is going in is literally our backyard with a little private beach. I'm still concerned about lepto, but am just monitoring her very closely at this point.
Since she has seemed to get back on her regular schedule, I would do as you are doing, keep an eye on her. It's not unusual, in fact common, but puppies to get a UTI. Any further symptoms and she should be seen by a vet.
