Seems like she may have an issue with the food. I'd call the Vet and ask.
Hi guys,
Macie came home at 8 weeks on Purina Pro Plan Large Breed Puppy. I kept her on one large bag of that, and then transitioned to Kirkland Signature Puppy food, using the 25/75, 50/50, 75/25 transition formula. I'd read good things about Kirkland Signature on dogfoodadvisor.com, and have always been impressed with the quality of their products (and much more economical than PPP). Unfortunately since we passed the 50/50 stage with the new food, her stools have been much looser. Sorry for the unappealing reference, but I've heard the term 'soft serve' (like ice cream), and that seems to apply.
It's going on a couple weeks, and she's not having any other digestion problems but the stool remains semi-solid. Do you think this is just a matter of time and she will adjust, or that her system just does not like Kirkland?
Any advice appreciated!
Thanks!
Lindsey

It does sound like the new food is not working very well for her. If it has been a couple of weeks at this point, it may just not work for her. Is going back to the PP an option? That would be my choice, at least until she is done teething. Have you discussed the issue with your breeder? That may be helpful.

How much are you feeding her? Is it possible you are overfeeding? Is she getting any additional treats, food, etc? Any possibility she was exposed to a parasite?
You could try going back to Proplan and see if her stools return to normal, if thats the case, its the food.

I raised Sam on Pro Plan Focus large breed puppy and he did really well on it. I never considered switching.

Oakley is on the Pro Plan large breed puppy, also. That's what her breeder had her on and she is doing so well on it that I don't think I'm going to switch at this age. (14 weeks) Breeder said to change to adult food at 7 or 8 months. I'd like to go grain free at that time.

Go back to Pro Plan. Food is not economical if the dog is having diarrhea.

Thanks all! I ordered a bag of pro plan today and will switch back. Macie's actually having a whole different set of issues today unfortunately- may post separately for advice, but I will definitely be switching her food back. Thanks to all!
