It can be normal (and annoying), however, I'd worry about the puddle drinking for other reasons like giardia, lepto, etc. so be very watchful!
Hey guys, just wondering if it's normal for a 9 week old puppy to LOVE to drink water? He is literally crazy about it, if he knows it's anywhere close that is his only attention span to find a way to get to it. Hate when it rains because he just tries to drink water off the ground instead of use the restroom. My 6year lab didn't react like this so this is new to me. Right now we're rationing water so he's not over drinking since he doesn't seem to want to stop once he starts. I figure I'll ask the vet at his 12 week shots too but figured I'd ask here too!

Know nothing about puppies as we home seniors. My only advice, if you think something is wrong, call the vet and discuss the situation.

update on the water drinking. We decided to let him drink his fill to see what happens. He definitely drank a lot but once he was to the point he felt good he stopped and that was it. No water obsession the rest of the night! Pretty amazing, but he did have to pee a lot more though haha. He has his 12 weeks shots next Friday so our vet said we'd discuss this than to see if we need to test for anything.
