I forgot Diggity is so young and the bag of chews you linked to looked like skinny little things about the size of pupperonis. Glad to know Diggity liked his chew treat!

I’ll look into those too, thx!

I bought a single bone that was a different size from the link I posted. I got it from my local pet store, who had a variety of sizes. The one I got seems to be perfect, at least for now.

I was going to suggest Beef Trachea for chewing, my gurls get one after they have their weekly grooming and toenail dremeling session. I buy American sourced and processed beef tracheas off of Amazon. I do not give them to young puppies though, because they are fatty and pretty rich. I also do raw turkey necks for dental health, both the tracheas and turkey necks are all cartilage but require a fair amount of chewing/grinding, so they clean teeth well. I wait until around 6 months old to offer one to a young dog.

I would not use knuckle bones or any heavy weight bearing bones for any age dog or puppy, I have seen too many broken teeth, and UC Davis does not recommend them because of that. The dogs chew heavily with their molars and get slab fractures, so I don't do any bones at all.

I do use rawhide "flip chips" for teething puppies, closely supervised, my adults do not get any rawhide at all. I make sure my Flip chips are American sourced and processed as well.

Your puppy is adorable, I saw the other thread, yellow Labrador puppies are SO cute!

    Thank you! Very helpful!

I got Diggity from an excellent breeder in West Virginia. Her dogs are awesome.

I know Debby! We aren't allowed to mention breeders here, good or bad, you may want to edit your post. :-)

Small world! I am hoping to train Diggity as a therapy dog.

Didn’t know that rule. Will edit. Thx!

I bought the others this past time...they seem to be fine, a bit smaller on average than what SR has been selling (which were admittedly pretty large) but fresh.

I'd tried others and found some to smell rancid upon opening the bag. One other smelled OK to me but the dogs wouldn't touch them. Don't remember brands but they came boxed.

    Diggity is adorable!
I gave him his first lamb ear today and he loved it!! It took him about 30 minutes to eat the entire thing. Is that fast or normal?

Lamb ears, oh gosh, I don't know if I could get those. I like my dog treats the same as I like the meat I consume- packaged so you can't really identify the animal it came from.
