    Switching to adult food

Hi, we have two 6 months old Chocolate Labs, our vet says we can switch them over to adult food now. We have them on Nutro Natural Choice, lamb and whole brown rice formula. I see a lot of you use Pro Plan Sport, went to Petsmart looking for the 26/16 they didn't have that but they do have 28/18. would you recomend that or something else ?
    Thank you, Dan
p.s. they are not working dogs, just pets.

The 28/18 would be fine and they should be able to order the 26/16 for you if you'd like.

I would talk to your breeder before switching to adult food. Consult with the breeder - as they usually know their line the best, and what works best for them. Some people switch their dogs to adult food at a few months old, some people say its better to wait until the dog is over a year old - the breeder will know best though. Your breeder will also have advice on how to introduce them to the new food.

Switching to an adult formula at this age is just fine. I would talk to your breeder about the change in food brands though. Although I am not a fan of Nutro foods I definitely think it is best to talk this type of change over with the person that knows their lines the best. You trusted the breeder enough to buy your dog from him/her, please trust them to know what works and does not work, at least for the first year.

Changing at 6 months is fine and shouldn't really require breeder approval.

If you can't find the PP Sport 26/16, the 28/18 is fine or you can go with the Selects Turkey and Rice too.
