    Acana Grasslands for Puppies?

My friend will be fostering a 9-10 week old mix puppy. breed guess at that age is a wild guess, maybe shepherd or lab or something. Anyway there is some debate on food to feed.

Acana grasslands says it's appropriate for all life stages - what do you think? ok for a puppy? Any of the foods in the acana regional lines appropriate?

I believe Acana regionals are all appropriate for puppies, if you adjust the feeding amount according to the feeding guide (puppies need more). My only concern is on the calcium percentage. It is 2.0%. For large breed puppies, the calcium percentage should be no higher than 1.5%. Best range is 1%-1.5%. Too much calcium will put hips in potential risk. I am feeding my puppies Acana Wild Prairie. This one has 1.2% calcium and other ingredients are all appropriate for puppies. Maybe you can try this.

If the puppy is a foster, I would probably find a more mainstream food. I know where I live Acana isn't readily available and it's expensive. Personally, I would choose the food that is easy to get and doesn't cost too much.

the issus is her dog has some pretty major allergies. so easier to have tbe puppy on a food that wont create issues. ideally something with no chkicken/turkey.

the rescue got a big batch or orijen and acana (very awesome) sp thats what they feed dogs in care right now.

she is going to use boreal salmon with calcium of 1.6 and says all age formula. she ended up woth a different puppy, a possible dobe-ish mix.

The calcium is too high. So is the cal/phos ratio. should be 1.2:1

Acana chicken and Burbank potato is appropriate for growing pups.
