You can definitely buy human fish oil caps and squeeze them on to the food.
Thanks! Does the fish oil need to be for dogs only? I've read that human grade is better?

Man, I just love this board! Thank you, thank you! I think we may be looking at transitioning him to Fromm Heartland Gold puppy off of Blue Buffalo.

It's possible and we will change if needed. In the past week, he has been doing a lot of itching and scratching. We are on a food elimination diet with Benadryl per our vet. We had bought him new duck flavored treats and we believe that could be the factor.
What else is in the treats besides duck? Duck itself is not a typical allergen. When I'm trying to eliminate allergies, I typically start with the common allergens list, and go from there. They can certainly be allergic to other things though.
How is the Benadryl affecting your dog? If you're noticing drowsiness, you can ask about Loratadine (generic Claritin).
My wife actually threw the treats out before I was able to look at the ingredients, something I will definitely start doing. I just figured they were high price from an upscale dog store that they must be good, last time I make that mistake! He has been doing fine on the Benadryl. Still doing a lot of whining though when it gets within an hour of his 6am/6pm meals. Im thinking it's because he knows it's time for a meal, it's just so annoying though! Especially when he is at our bedside, sitting & whining at 5am. Even with us upping his food to 2 1/2 cups 2x per day.
