I also can't wait to see how he matures, very nice topline and overall profile, very nice shoulders and front. I think when his head matures he will be a very, very nice dog!!!!

Thanks! Bouncing a fill flash will help you get contrast in your photos of black dogs (or any subjects).

Thank you so much for posting these, I loved them!!!!

Also I find it very humerus when you say the girls own his butt. It seems all my girls could easily kick the boys a$$es when ever they please. Sophie will tolerate Brooks, and Bruce before him, but when she's had enough they spend a lot of time on their heads! My Ella was able to kick Clancy's a$$ at will. So much fun to see the boys put in their place!!!
Thanks! Girls are much more mature mentally at earlier ages vs. boys. I think that may be true for humans also. :-) Boy Labrador puppies are generally big goofs, and just dunderheads (some remain dunderheads for a long time). The girls easily win all match ups! I see this over and over again at puppy evals or other Lab gatherings. Not to say that boys are not equally bright or smart, but just that there is often a different, more laissez faire attitude to life and mental maturity seems to come later than with girls IMO.

His sister Friday was my pick puppy at the litter eval. I think she and the other littermate Lola (actually all the girls including the ones that went to pet homes) favor their dam, and have that classic look and sweet, sweet expression. My boy has his dam's eyes, but favors his sire.

As you know, with puppies it's always a crap shoot. You never know how things will turn out. I'm happy with what I see so far. He's been growing evenly and is balanced. We got a lot of great feedback from breeder judges at the specialty. The sweeps judge one day said it was splitting hairs between him and the boy who won his class (who then went on to be winners dog both days). He got some good hard looks for RWD, and I was pretty proud of how he did this first time out. I handled him one day (and I'm the one who goes to handling class with him) and he also was handled by my handler who had not seen him since he was 8 weeks old. He took the whole thing in stride. That's all you really want at this age, for your puppy to have great ring experiences and have FUN!

His pedigree has some slow-to-mature dogs in it, so I imagine he may take some time to fill out and mature. That's okay with me. It's a long road between showing and getting the rest of his clearances done (hips/elbows/heart remaining). One day at a time...

It's always fun to see puppies develop. Their little personalities are precious.

Thanks, as long as he is happy and healthy, that will be enough for me. All my boys are my babies first and foremost!
