    Chase nibbles the bark while it's still on the trees. I'm thinking I have a hybrid Labrabeaver.

    I love that top photo of Archie relaxing while stripping bark.

    I haven't seen him actually eat it but if he did is it safe?

    Based on the texture of some of my dogs' poops, I'd say they both eat bark sometimes. I'm sure there are some trees that could be toxic, depending on the variety of the tree, but mine have eaten maple and sycamore bark and stripped limbs off azaleas and rhododendrons, which are supposed to be toxic, without signs of distress or illness. I still try to discourage them from eating my landscaping.

    I had to put a fence around the tree I'm my back yard as Brooks would happily pull the bark off and try to eat it.
